1911 Census:
Thomas Edward Hawkins was a 16 year old coke worker, residing at Ash Cottages, New Selston, Nottinghamshire. He was the son of Samuel, a coke worker, and Emma.

From the war diary of the 7th Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, 10th July 1917, it is noted that Private Hawkins was killed by enemy aircraft whilst a patient in the 11th Casualty Clearing Station at Bailleul (information kindly provided by Andy Johnson)
